Over the years, I've heard the same frequently asked questions from my guests.
So, I put together this helpful page to answer the big questions about renting a timeshare to tell you all about How This Works.

Answer: Once you know which resort youd like to stay at, what dates youd like to stay, and how many people are in your party, simply fill out the Availability Check form at the bottom of the resorts page.
I will check availability for you, and email you back to let you know if your desired resort is available during your dates. If its not, but something close to it is, Ill tell you that too.
Ill also tell you what the final price will be.
If this works for you, simply click on the PayPal link in your email to pay. I will forward you your Reservation Confirmation once payment is received.
Please print out your confirmation and bring it with you when you check in.
Answer: Terrific question. I invite you to take a look at my giant list of all of my timeshare rentals. I have over 60 different locations around the US, Cananda, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.
Answer: Whether you've got a group of eight people or you're flying solo, I've got a unit that's sized right. With over sixty different timeshare rental locations, each timeshare is a little bit different. Some have studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units (a few timeshare rental locations even have four-bedroom units! That's huge!). Some have just one-bedrooms.
When you sned me your Availability Request Form, be sure to tell me how many people are in your group so that I can be sure to find the right sized unit for you.
I've had one or two people tell me that they have 12 people in their group, and they want to reserve one three-bedroom unit. Whoa. No can do. Three-bedroom units have a maximum occupancy of eight people. And that's not just because some ergonomics majors decided that nine people just wouldn't fit. No, it actually concerns fire safety (which is perhaps my favorite type of safety). So, if you have a large group, I will make suggestions for the most affordable way to split your group. When you complete your Availability Request Form, if you have a large group, it helps me if you tell me how it could be split up. For example, you might say "We have 12 people. Two families with six people each." or, "We have four families, two with four people, one with three people, one couple, and one with five people." This helps me help you!
Answer: Occupancy taxes are apparently only something that certain elected officials have any power over. Some resorts have them, some dont, and unfortunately theres no way around them.
If your desired resort has an occupancy tax, Ill point it out in my email to you so that theres no surprises.
The answer is...sometimes. When booking a reservation more than 90 days in advance, your length of stay must be at least 7 nights. If your dates are less than 90 days out, you can stay as little as one night if you want!
Answer: Being on a budget should not deter you from considering staying in a timeshare. In fact, take a look at the next question to learn how staying in a timeshare can save you a substantial amount of money.
In addition to saving on food costs, there are other ways to make your stay in a timeshare more affordable. Its simple: some days of the week are more expensive than others.
Mondays through Thursdays are the least expensive days, followed by Sundays. Fridays and Saturdays are more expensive.
A Monday through Thursday vacation is less expensive than a Thursday through Sunday vacation (and your destination will be less crowded on those days!)
Traveling off-season will also bring you substantial savings. Each resorts page identifies its high, mid, and low season dates. High season is more expensive. Low season is more affordable.
Heres an example for a family staying at the resort in Destin, Florida.
Lets say the Smith family wants to take a four day vacation in Destin.
If they stay at the Destin resort Thursday through Sunday in late December, they will pay $1480.
But if they plan their vacation for Monday through Thursday in mid-January, theyll only pay $310!
Answer: Staying in a timeshare has a distinct advantage over staying in a hotel:
All units come with a kitchen. Studio units tend to have a partial kitchen, whereas all other size units tend to have a full kitchen.
This means youll have a full size refrigerator, stove, and oven. Youll also have drawers full of silverware and cupboards full of plates and glasses, pots and pans. Most kitchens also have your basic condiments.
Think for a moment how much you would spend in food during your vacation if every person in your party had to eat at a restaurant, with restaurant-style prices, three times a day.
For example, lets say that at the nearby restaurants, an okay breakfast will cost $10, lunch $12, and dinner $15.
(In some parts of the country, this will buy you pretty okay food. In other parts of the country, youll be eating nothing but appetizers for this kind of money.)
So thats $37 per person per day. Mom and dad plus three kids will cost $185 per day just for food.
Thats $1295 for a one week vacation. Just for food!
Now do this simple math equation:
$1295 (what you spend at the grocery store for one week of food) = Your Savings by Staying in a Timeshare
